Baked Mac and Cheese

This is a family favorite. It has become the traditional birthday meal in our home. I inherited this recipe from my mother-in-law with very few modifications.


8 oz cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 c milk
1 egg
8 oz Elbow Macaroni

Cook elbow macaroni until almost done. Grate cheese and mix half of the cheese with milk and egg. Grease a 9x13 glass pan. In pan, mix milk mixture with macaroni. Add the remaining cheese and mix well. Bake, uncovered, at 350* for 35-45 minutes, until egg is cooked.

For less crunchy Baked Mac and Cheese, cover while baking and bake for 45-55 minutes.

Sometimes we top the Baked Mac and Cheese with extra cheese (just a sprinkling) and that works well too.
